I completely agree. I am also a little disturbed by churches who create a new franchise in a suburb, and rather than piping in the sermon from the parent church, bus in the pastor from the parent church…every service. The pastor isn’t a part of the community, he isn’t committed to shepherding this new flock, he is a talking head brought in to replicate the “success” of his initial ministry.
Are there so few equipped and able teacher/preachers that one man has to travel in person or via video? Sounds like maybe there needs to be more teaching, training, discipling, and community building to me.
